Seven years ago today my niece celebrated her 14th birthday in the typical teenage style. Tragically she left us November 2nd surrounded by family. Because of Kayla food safety is another cause that is near and dear to my heart. E.coli took a healthy, athletic 14 year old that was very near and dear to my heart. Familiarize yourself with food safety, check the temperature on meat to make sure it is done. Dont cook frozen pizzas in the microwave. For a good month after Kayla passed away I burnt everything just to make sure it was cooked. I know many people are wearing orange today to stand up against bullying but my family is wearing lime green (her favorite color) in honor of a lovely girl that left us too soon. A few days ago my girls let a lime green balloon go in honor of Kayla. If you wear lime green anytime between now and November 2nd please post a picture to our timeline just to let us know you are thinking of us and praying for Kaylas family.
