Seventeen percent of Turkish citizens currently fall between the ages of 15 and 24. Compare this to 13.7 % in the same age group for this country and it might help explain some of the current unrest there. Although there are people of all ages among the protesters, it is generally a younger crowd. Very likely people who could not vote or did not take an interest in voting just a couple years ago when the ruling party received an extended mandate. The age of eligibility to vote in Turkey is 18.
