Several artist friends of mine have independently from each other told me to step back from my album for a couple of days, and take a break from anything related to it. They say its essential to distance myself from it before taking meetings with industry people, hustling and shopping it to labels. I asked why do I need to distance myself from it? Shouldnt I rather be immersing myself deeper in it? No, you need to look away from it so that you can return to it with a different role. And what role is that? I asked. Youve so far been its creator. Yes? And youve been its servant and protector. Right. But now you need to become its pimp.
