Several days ago I was assigned the number 7 to list seven things you may not know about me. In honor of this day: (1). I was a DJ at KFLD in Floydada, Texas and was the only person in the radio station during the lunch hour. I was hosting a live radio show when I had to interrupt to read the AP news bulletin that President Kennedy had been shot in a motorcade and rushed to Parkland Hospital. Continued reading the bulletins and announced that the President was dead. (2.) My real Dad died when I was 2 years old. (3.) Waylon Jennings asked me to marry him (very early in his career) in front of an auditorium full of people. (4.) I do not have or have never had pierced ears. (5.) I always had to sit in the first seat in the first row of Room A because my name was Addie Adkins (not good when you were always seated in alphabetical order).l (5.) I was able to buy my first grade desk and it sits in the den as we speak. (6.) We spent our first married night in a brand new Motel in Seagraves, Texas and I was wearing a Going away suit and a pink feather headband (maybe a little conspicuous, but that and the way our car was painted maybe gave us away). (7.) The owner of the new Motel would not let us pay for the night and sent us on our way the next morning with his blessings.
