Several have asked for details of the day. Shelley Bustamante please jump in if I forget something..... It really began last night around midnight. Carol contacted me saying someone had spotted Quest near Collins/I20. Of course we all were worried he was so close to the highway. I was able to call the lady and get more details. I drove down to the area but didnt see him. After hanging around a while and talking to a couple of guys at the gas station, I returned home. At about 2:45am, Carol got another call from a guy saying he had her dog. Before she could get any details, the line went dead and he never called back. At 8am another call came in from a lady who said Quest was lying in her front yard. Shelley and I headed that way. When I pulled up, Shelley was already parked in front of the house where he was lying. He was limping really badly, very matted and dirty and looked just completely exhausted. He wasnt moving super fast but would pick up speed when he spotted us watching him. We followed him around for almost 2 hours. We tried corralling him into an alley way but he slipped by us. I was on foot following him and Shelley would drive up ahead to try to turn him around back towards me. We played this little game for almost an hour. It was evident he was getting very tired. But so were we! I dont think the three of us could have kept up that pace much longer. We finally had him somewhat cornered. He had gone between two houses and was up against the fence. We both knew this may be our last chance. If he sneaked by again, he wasnt going to let himself be cornered a third time. We started to move closer and he had a look of defeat in his eyes. I think he wanted to be caught at that moment. He didnt struggle as we got closer. I got close enough to slip the loop over his head. I think at that moment, Shelley and I just collapsed and cried! If it had not been for all of you who helped pass out fliers, we never would have gotten those calls. It really does take a village in these situations and little Quest is very lucky to have such an amazing rescue village!
