Several individuals have dropped by our Office at 1058 W. Club Blvd in Northgate Mall during the last week with questions concerning the new NC-4 requirement for 2014. The law becomes effective January 1, 2014 and requires all employees to submit a new NC-4 EZ or NC-4 or default to single marital status with zero withholding allowances. The new NC law has reduced the NC tax rate, increased standard deductions, but does not allow taxpayers to claim personal exemptions for themselves, their spouse, children, nor any other qualifying dependents on their 2014 NC tax returns. These changes do not affect your 2014 federal return, therefore taxpayers may still claim exemptions and credits (EIC) for themselves, their spouse, children, and other qualifying dependents. PS. The TAX CENTER offers an Early Bird Special beginning on January 6, 2014. We will provide estimates of refunds and fees and file your tax return electronically at 12:01AM January 28, 2014, the earliest possible time and date to file your 2013 tax return. 919-399-2126 for more info!
