Several months ago I was asked by some people to talk to the McLean County Board on the benefits of having an elected county auditor, but I was refused the opportunity to speak. They cited a local rule that I hadnt submitted my request 5 business days in advance. I am pretty familiar with the Open Meetings Act and felt this rule wouldnt pass muster. Particularly when the Board only has to post its agenda only 48 hours in advance. I sarcastically thought at the time, if the board scheduled a vote on marshal law, no one would be able to comment.
