Several people Ive spoken to want their children to grow up to be confident. Confidence can sometimes refer to a fake veneer. The more authentic attribute, I think is Courage. How can we enable courage in our children? By acting courageously ourselves. Which means overcoming our own fears and deliberately engaging with the world on the basis of trust and gratitude. By accepting them wholly as who they are, without judging them. (While using tough love when you have to in their best interest.) Non-judgmental acceptance has the most profound effect on living things. Under your eyes they miraculously unfold, transform, grow and bloom. And finally, by being patient and unconditional. They are here to be who they are meant to be, at their own pace, not what we want them to be. We (parents, caregivers) are just here to serve them as best we can. #children #courage Afia Mansoor
