Several years ago, a glass of plain water served in a restaurant was free. We scoffed upon seeing bottled water being sold, thinking it was a fade, which we thought at that time, was a ludicrous idea. That glass of plain water now costs 30 sen, and the bottled water has since become a multi-million Ringgit industry. It got me into thinking about how things we currently take as free could eventually command a set price one day. When our “thank yous,” “good mornings,” and our smiles are responded to with grunts, perhaps it is time to pay premium prices for common courtesies as well, along the directions taken by the glass of plain water and the bottled water… Have a fun-filled and productive week ahead, everyone…29 September 2014…
