Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Heavy Rainfall and Damaging For people in the Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland and parts of the West Coast, Yorke Peninsula, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts. Issued at 5:38 pm Thursday, 8 January 2015. Thunderstorms are occuring in parts of the warning area. Some of these may be severe and produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds with gusts in excess of 90 km/h. Locations which may be affected include Port Augusta, Whyalla, Port Pirie, Renmark, Hawker and Leigh Creek. Whyalla Airport has had 39 mm since 9 am today with 12 mm in 15 minutes and some flooding reported in town. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Secure or put away loose items around your property. * Move cars under cover or away from trees. * Keep clear of fallen power lines. * Don’t drive, ride or walk through flood water. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby. The next warning is due to be issued by 8:40 pm.
