Severe Thunderstorm Warning for damaging winds for the Barkly, Simpson and Tanami forecast districts Issued at 4:59 pm CST on Wednesday 3 December 2014. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce DAMAGING WINDS in parts of the Barkly, Tanami and northern Simpson forecast districts. Locations that may be affected include Tennant Creek, Ali Curung, Ampilatwatja, Brunette Downs, Cresswell Downs, Elliott, Jervois and Ti Tree. A gust to 96 kilometres per hour was recorded at Tennant Creek at 4:56 pm. The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should: Secure loose outside objects. Ensure pets and animals are in a safe area. Avoid remaining in the open when storms threaten. Avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current.
