Severe Weather Bulletin 10 Tropical cyclone warning: Typhoon “#VintaPH” (KROSA) Issued at 11:00 am, 31 october 2013 (valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 5 pm today) “VINTA” has intensified into a Typhoon and poses a real threat to Extreme Northern Luzon. Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon “VINTA” was located based on all available data at 200 km East of Aparri, Cagayan(17.7°N, 123.7°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 26 kph. Forecast position: Typhoon “VINTA” is expected to make landfall over Northern Cagayan this afternoon. By tomorrow morning, it is expected to be at 240 km West of Laoag City and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) before noon. Public Storm Warning Signal # 3 (Winds of 101-185 kph is expected in at least 18 hrs) Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao and Ilocos Norte Public Storm Warning Signal # 2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs) Batanes Group of Islands, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province and Isaberla. Public Storm Warning Signal # 1 (Winds of 30-60 kph is expected in at least 36 hours) La Union, Benguet, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora , Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Zambales. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5.0 - 15.0 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 500 km diameter of the Typhoon. • Areas under Public Storm Warning Signals #3, #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Moreover, coastal areas under Public Storm Warning Signal#3 and #2 are alerted against possible storm surges. • Sea travel is risky over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon. • The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today.
