Severe Weather Potential - Update The Village of Lemont is preparing for a significant storm with the possibility of high winds, strong thunder storms and flooding. Earlier today department heads from public works, emergency management, police and the Lemont Fire Department met to discuss preparation. The Lemont Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be open as of 3pm. Communications with Commonwealth Edison has been established as well as other EOC’s. If power is lost, residents can get updates directly from ComEd at https://comed/_layouts/comedsp/OutageMap.aspx ComEd has advised their priority of restoring power is as follows: • Repair of high voltage transmissions and substations • Facilities critical to health and public safety • Repair of equipment that restores the largest number of customers in the shortest period of time • Repair service to smaller neighborhoods and individual services EVACUATION SHELTERS are located at: • Old Quarry Middle School • Lemont Park District The public will be notified if these shelters are open and when they will be opened. EMERGENCY WEATHER SIRENS (Tornado Alert) The Lemont Emergency Sirens will be activated under the following guidelines: • Over 50 mph sustained winds • Rotating wall clouds within 5 miles • Funnel cloud rotation aloft within 5 miles • Tornado on the ground within 5 miles * * * * NO ALL CLEAR SIRENS WILL BE ACTIVATED * * * * Residents are urged to secure all property which may be damaged by high winds.
