******** Severe Weather Warning ******** A severe weather warning has been issued for damaging winds for people in the Lower West forecast district, including the Perth Metro Area. People in parts of WA west of a line from Jurien Bay to Gingin to Dwellingup to Bunbury. This includes people in, near or between the following towns: Mandurah and the Perth metropolitan area. This does not include Bunbury. Weather Situation A low pressure system is expected to deepen just to the south of Perth overnight with a period of strong and gusty westerly winds around the northern side of the Low. The Low is likely to cause WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS to 100 kilometres per hour that could result in DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. DAMAGING WINDS are possible in the warning area after midnight Saturday with conditions easing during Sunday morning. This is typical weather for this time of the year but winds may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: Store or weigh down loose objects such as outdoor furniture. Have an emergency kit with a battery operated radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit. Ensure pets and animals are in a safe area. Move vehicles under cover. Boat owners should securely moor their boats. Campers should find shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams. If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
