Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS FOR PARTS OF SOUTHERN & WESTERN NSW, VIC NORTH EAST Weather Situation A vigorous cold front will move into the region late this afternoon and evening, bringing a squally southwesterly change. The front is expected to weaken somewhat as it moves towards the east overnight, although the alpine peaks are likely to experience strengthening northwesterly winds. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of 90 km/h are forecast for the Lower Western and parts of the Riverina and Upper Western forecast districts late this afternoon or evening. Alpine areas above 1900 metres are likely to have damaging wind gusts of 110 km/h tonight & early Tuesday. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: - Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. - Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. - Keep clear of fallen power lines.
