Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts Issued at 10:49 pm EST on Thursday 4 July 2013. Weather Situation A cold front will cross southeast NSW Friday morning with gale-force winds expected for higher parts of the Snowy Mountains and possible for higher parts (mostly above 1000 metres) of the remaining southeastern districts. Damaging winds around 60 km/h with peak gusts of 90 km/h are forecast for the Snowy Mountains forecast district and possibly for higher parts of the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts Thursday night and Friday morning. Alpine Peaks may experience winds around 70 km/h with peak gusts around 120 km/h. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep clear of fallen power lines. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
