Severe weather warning - Issued at 9:08 am Friday, 23 January 2015. Synoptic Situation: Heavy rain, which may lead to flash flooding, is expected to continue for the next few hours. Currently, the heaviest rain is located on radar over southern suburbs of Brisbane, with recent hourly falls peaking around 40mm. The heavy rain may combine with todays high tide around midday to cause some inundation of vulnerable coastal areas. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Coolangatta, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and islands, Beenleigh, Caboolture and Caloundra. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 3:10 pm.
