Sewer and Stormwater Rehab Update – Week of October 6, 2014 We are hard at work to address concerns with both our drainage and sewer systems. This report is intended to help you know what is happening with both systems and as a heads up for areas of town where there may be work taking place in the streets. STORMWATER PROJECTS The City issued bonds to address some significant drainage issues. The following projects are currently underway. ETVID Phase 2 –Work is complete along the rail line east of the East Tennessee Valley Industrial District. Final close out of the contract will be considered by City Council Tuesday. Vantage View – This project to address a collapsed culvert has been designed. Repairs will be partially funded from State grants. We are currently awaiting review and approval from Federal and State regulators before the project can be bid. Jaybird Road / Whitewood Circle – Pipe installation is complete on Whitewood and begun on Jaybird. Curb and paving to follow. Cub Circle – Construction underway. MLK Park – Pipe installed. Curb and paving work to be done. SEWER PROJECTS Significant changes are taking place with the wastewater (sewer) system. We are under order from the State of Tennessee to rehabilitate the collection system to minimize overflows and to assure smooth operation of lines and pumps. We are also investing in the treatment plant to provide for the long term needs of the community. Beginning in January 2014, the Morristown Utility System has taken over operation of the sewer system. The City and MUS continue to cooperate to assure the rehabilitation projects meet the schedule for completion by 2017. Turkey Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant • Work is underway at the wastewater treatment plant. These improvements will address concerns about odor as well as improve the overall operation of the plant. WWTP4-A Sewer Rehabilitation Project This project is located near the center of town • Post TV inspection in various locations • Manhole rehabilitation throughout the basin • Pipe Bursting and service laterals on Rosedale Ave, S Jackson St, Sunrise Ave, W Louise Ave, Harrison St, Pauline Ave, & W Charles St • Paving on Rosedale Ave, W Louise St, S Jackson St, & Pleasant Ave • Concrete repairs on Rosedale Ave, W Louise St, S Jackson St, & Pleasant Ave WWTP4-B Sewer Rehabilitation Project This project is located near the center of town • Post TV inspection in various locations • Manhole rehabilitation throughout the basin • Pipe Bursting and service laterals on E 1st North St, Montuve Ave, & William St. • Paving on E 1st South St, Montuve Ave, Mohawk St, Scenic Dr, Highland St, Algonquin Dr, & S James St • Concrete repairs on E 1st South St, Montuve Ave, Mohawk St, Scenic Dr, Highland St, Algonquin Dr, & S James St State Route 66 • Working near State Route 66 and Hwy 160 to relocate utilities near the TDOT project. Howell Road Force Main Project • W Economy Rd • This project is working on completion of punch list items. Fall Creek/Barton Springs Project • Manhole rehab and testing at various locations WWTP3A Project • Dig and lay sewer line on Reese St, New Cut Rd, George St., Old Liberty Hill Rd, & North Liberty Hill Rd. Maid 1/Willow Springs Pump Stations Project • Working at Maid 1 pump station on Hunter Street • Working on Willow Springs Pump Station on Panther Creek COMPLETED PROJECTS: The following projects have been completed and the contracts have been closed. Jackson Street Project (joint sewer and stormwater project)- Project complete as of June 30 2014 CCTV Project (sewer) – Complete TV inspection project – May 2014 Spring Creek Basin 1 Contract A and Basin 3 Contract B (sewer) - Project Complete March 2014 Fall Creek ETVID South Drainage Project (storm) – Project Complete as of December 2013. Howell Road Pump Station (sewer) – Project Complete as of November, 2013 Rosedale/Sulphur Springs Storm Water (storm) - Project Complete as of November, 2013 N.
