Sgr Samachar: >>Narendra Modi launches Jan Dhan Yojana; record 1.5 cr bank A/Cs opened today >>Opposition parties stage walkout in J&K Assembly Opposition PDP, BJP and National Panthers Party (NPP) Thursday staged walkouts from the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over different issues like discrimination in allotment of development funds to constituencies, rejection of resolution on rehabilitation of refugees from West Pakistan and rising inflation. NPP MLAs supported by CPI(M)s M Y Tarigami staged the first walkout from the House after Speaker Mubarak Gul rejected the adjournment motion for discussing inflation and price rise in the state. NPP members shouted slogans like control inflation, control price rise, do justice to poor and stop hoarding before storming into the Well of the House seeking suspension of regular business. They also staged a brief dharna on the floor. As the Speaker refused to give in to their demand, the MLAs joined by Tarigami staged walkout. PDP MLAs, except Syed Bashiruddin, staged the second walk out after they were not satisfied with the governments reply on allocation of development funds to various constituencies in the absence of sanction of annual plan by the Centre. PDP MLA Chaudhary Zulfikar alleged that 50 per cent of plan allocation was being appropriated for constituencies represented by the ministers while other segments were being neglected. Soon after the Question Hour, BJP MLAs rose to their feet and demanded that the House pass a resolution to condemn the ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control. Sgr Samachar: DPR for constructing tunnel on Mughal road submitted to Centre: Wani Srinagar: Minister for R&B, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani informed the House that 8 km tunnel would be constructed on the Mughal road to make it a all weather route and reduce the distance by 12 km, the Detailed Project Report has already been submitted to the Planning Commission/Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for accord of approval and funding. Replying to a question by Dr. Shahnaz Ganai, the Minister further said that the proposal for feasibility studies, preparation of Preliminary Project Report (PPR) and DPR for construction of tunnel on Mughal road at an estimated cost of Re. 2.76 crore and Rs. 25 crore respectively has been submitted. However, in the meanwhile department has initiated the work of feasibility study and preparation of PPR for construction of tunnel through the consultant M/S SMEC Pvt. Ltd. The agency has completed nearly 50% of the job assigned. He further said that there are some road projects where the progress was slow and not completed by the concerned contractors within the stipulated time frame. As such their contracts are terminated and balance work taken up after inviting fresh tenders at the risk and cost of original contractors. 4,14,478 beneficiaries provided relief under NSAP, ISSS: Sakina. Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo informed the House that under NSAP and ISSS relief has been provided to 4,14,478 beneficiaries in the State. The Minister was replying to a question by Mr. Devinder Singh Rana in the House today. She further informed that during the current financial year an amount of Rs. 86.76 crore and Rs. 42.23 crore stands released in favour of the implementing agencies for disbursement of pension to the approved beneficiaries under ISSS and NSAP respectively. Sgr Samachar: Girl ends her life in Handwara A 19 year old girl (name with held) resident of Handwara consumed some poisonous substance at her home. She was shifted to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment where she expired. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to her relatives for last rites. Police has registered a case in this regard.
