Sgt. Bergdahl may very well have deserted his post in Afghanistan, - TopicsExpress

Sgt. Bergdahl may very well have deserted his post in Afghanistan, leading directly to his capture by the Taliban and being held as a prisoner of war for five years. BUT: a) He has not yet stood trial, nor even been charged. Here in America there is a presumption of innocence until guilt is proved. It is unethical of the Republicans to smear Sgt. Bergdahl before he has even stood trial. b) Even if he is guilty of desertion, that does not change the fact that we do NOT leave American prisoners of war behind. Never before has there been a systematic smear of the character of a prisoner of war by the American media or by a political party. This is shameful and is a pathetic demonstration of how politically polarized America has become.
