Shabnam Masood gets a wake-up call on EastEnders in the New Year when her father Masood berates her for getting old before her time. Upcoming episodes will see Shabnam (Rakhee Thakrar) strike up a friendship with Stacey Branning, but she still seems reluctant to get out and have some fun. When Stacey (Lacey Turner) invites Shabnam to come along to a ladies night being held at the Queen Vic, she makes a point of refusing to go when she hears that Kush Kazemi will be there. Despite a romantic spark between Shabnam and Kush (Davood Ghadami), she stubbornly doesnt want to get too close to him - but Masood later has some harsh words for her. The argument kicks off when Masood (Nitin Ganatra) feigns an injury to get out of his upcoming half marathon and Shabnam orders him to act his age. Firing back at his daughter, Masood claims that everyone her age will be at ladies night rather than moping around at home. As Masood has hit a nerve, Shabnam goes along to The Vics event after all but is forced to watch on disapprovingly as Kat Moon flirts with Kush. Could Shabnam have missed her chance? EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday January 15 and Friday January 16 on BBC One.
