Shad had a recent lightning scare. You have my sympathies, cuz. I understand. A few years back I was in a little truck under the bank drive-up in the parking lot where the Houma Eastside Cannatas is today, when a tornado struck. Couple of parish garbage cans scooted by, striking my bumper. My that was weird, I thought, the wind must be kicking out there. Then wind actually got kinda quiet, and I looked up before me to the left and saw the roof of the shopping center -- what used to be the TG&Y -- as it just *peeled* and *rolled* slowly up, like the cover of a keyed sardine tin -- and *flooowed* rippling over my head above the little bank. It then unrolled as it was *plastered* across Prospect St., mere feet to my right, like black tar peanut butter with dime store item peanuts being smeared by a giant invisible knife. The pressure drop made it quiet, I guess. No traditional tornado train sound, no sudden loud noise to startle me, so not a poopy-pants moment. :D It was all wonder and magic and a special effects-like spectacle... until it was over and I drove around, risking my tires on nails and glass, to the front of what used to be the store, to make sure no one was trapped in there. Yikes. *Then* it hit me good.
