Shade Chapter 8 We travel together side by side. Showing her the things I have discovered about our bodies. We travel south and west strangely enough she seems to have no appetite just yet. When we arrive in New Jersey this suddenly changes and she is ravenous. At first she mistakes this for a different physical desire tightly wrapping her smoky figure around my own in an attempt to couple with me. Grinding against me and pressing her breasts to my face. It doesn’t take long for her to realize this isn’t what she actually craves and describes the feeling. I explain to her it’s this new form showing hunger. So now we hunt deep in the Pine Barrens we see six dark auras and a strange shape not an aura exactly however it has the same feel to it. We cautiously approach this grouping of souls from above knowing the treetops will hide us. Six men in ashen robes chant and sing dancing around this other “thing”. Horse shapes head legs and hooves, but standing upright thick muscular arms with long claws and batwings coming out of its back. “The Jersey Devil” my dark angel gasps. I find myself nodding in agreement there is nothing else it could be. We watch as the group sways back and forth their chant almost like a song. “They are druids” she giggles “always searching for something to improve their own power”. Suddenly the devil looks right at us snorts and runs into the woods, leaving the group of druids completely confused. We descend upon them in our smoke form and she does as I taught her, controlling the sand on the forest floor into a box so escape is impossible. I thin myself to form a lid as she turns solid and enjoys her first meal. The druids are franticly attempting to cast spell after spell to no avail, she had told me their magic would be useless against us. We are from something far older. Obviously playing with them she swipes at one then another. As the smell of blood fills the air she begins to lose control the hunger now has her as she disembowels the first man. The others are now ignored as she feeds deeply upon him, tearing him apart and draining every drop. There is nothing left of the first man so she turns to the others. Panic has been replaced with terror. “Come join us my love” Dark Angel giggles at me. My body rapidly reforms and I drop to the ground. Together we rip apart and devour the remaining five the amount of evil blood is invigorating. After disposing of all the pieces of the men we set off after the Devil himself. Finding him is easy enough but catching him is another story he’s faster than we are. “Don’t worry it hates the light more than we do. This is a creature of pure darkness.” She says with a shrug. It doesn’t take long to see she is right it has gone into a cave. We dash after the creature till we find it at a dead end, it is openly weeping. It swipes at us as a child would, as if to say go away. Dark Angel tilts her head at an odd angle “does pure evil cry?” the Devils right shoulder is bleeding and I swipe it with my hand. A rush of images runs through my mind as the blood dissolves into me. A chanting sound fills the air drawing me and controlling me. Two creatures of smoke reeking of blood chasing after me a rough stone slicing into my arm. All throughout this vision a sense of utter despair and fear. These images send me reeling, I fall back and Dark Angel catches me.” Leave this creature be it has done nothing to deserve us butchering it.” At this she looks puzzled but listens nonetheless. As we depart the cave and find a place to settle in for the day we hear a screeching howl followed by utter silence. -Shade
