Shahrukhs Happy New Year faces no competition this Diwali...... What happens when a huge superstar arrives with a biggie of his after a gap of more than a year? Well, there is no competition whatsoever in sight. This is whats happening this Diwali when Shahrukh Khans Happy New Year arrives. As expected, no film, whether big or small, is daring to arrive anywhere in its vicinity. Happy New Year is all set to arrive on the weekend of Diwali which falls on Thursday, 23rd October. While it is yet to be seen whether the film hits the screens on Diwali or the day after that since it happens to be a Friday, the fact remains that it is going to be a solo release, confirms a trade source. This isnt all as there is no other film slated to arrive for an entire fortnight after it, what with the next biggie Action Jackson along with Ungli slated for November 7 release. For Shahrukh, it is going to be an uninterrupted run since the only three biggies of October, Hrithik Roshans Bang Bang, Shahid Kapoors Haider and Priyanka Chopras Mary Kom are all arriving on October 2, with Ayushmann Khurrannas Hawaizaada a week later. After that, there is no other film on October 17, the source adds. This means that right from October 24 to November 7, it is going to be only Happy New Year which would be ruling the roost. Adds another prominent insider, It makes sense after all. Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are coming back together again after Chennai Express which is the second highest grosser in the history of Indian cinema. Moreover, Farah Khan and Shahrukh Khan have delivered two big hits earlier in the form of Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Na. Happy New Year is being designed as an event release and when a film, scale, setting and release is as huge as this, it is only beneficial for other films to stay away. There is another practical reason that is contributing to that. Since Happy New Year is being designed to release on the highest print count ever for an Indian film, there would be hardly any multiplex or reputed single screen left in the country which would have space left to release another Hindi film. Guess many more records are set to break this year !
