Shaikha Hessa Voluntary Work Award Committee convenes The Shaikha Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa Award for Youth Voluntary Work Committee held, at the premises of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), its ninth meeting of its first session, under the chairmanship of Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa. The panel discussed preparations to launch the second edition of the award, approved the participation form and reviewed proposals concerning its levels and criteria, as well as preparations to announce the winners of the first edition in December, 2013. It is worth noting that the award was named after the late HH Shaikh Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa to commemorate her landmark contributions to voluntary and humanitarian work. It was established as per a Royal Order 15 of 2011 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the aim of fostering the concept of voluntary work culture among the youth and promoting its value as a patriotic and humanitarian duty of importance to society. It also promotes fair competition among youngsters and projects their innovative initiatives towards carrying out sustainable projects that benefit their community. It is open for Bahraini volunteers aged between 18 and 35.
