Shaken. This dramatic day in pictures. I didnt post this, but Saturday, a 3 week old baby was found dead in a dumpster in our little beach village. Today, I arrived home to a wreck that had JUST happened right by my house. We were afraid to pull out the driver because she was injured and upside down in the white car. John rescued her dog out of the car, and we still have him. I cant tell you the panic I felt pulling up to the wreck- I didnt know what she had hit, how many were in the car, how many were injured, or where my family/ friends/ neighbors were. I looked up to see John under the car trying to get the dog out and keep the driver calm until the rescue team could arrive. Then my children came running with leashes and blankets and water for the dog and in case we had some way to get the driver something she might need. The woman was conscious when the ambulance took her away but we still have not heard from her or her family for her dog, so I am concerned. I was returning from the sheriffs office when I saw the accident. Jason was driving and I leapt out of the top of my convertible without even thinking to run to the scene and to find my family. Jason thought I over reacted by leaping out of the car while it was still moving. He isnt a mother. We still have the puppy. He is wagging his tail and chilling with part of the fam in part of the house since he and Gippy are both intact males. Praying for the victim and still for the baby. Thankful no one else was hurt. Neighbors told me they walked there only moments before on their way to watch the sunset at the beach. Its so strange how something like this grounds you, isnt it? This is the second accident where I have been among the first on the scene. Last time, we lost people - teenagers. This time, I dont think so. Johns drive to save everyone always scares me too, just because I know he would be first in, in a fire or something. My boys and jason wanted to be right in the action to help, too. I had to hold my little guys back. I had the dog after john got him out of the car, so I became journalist, taking pics for police and posting on our neighborhood watch thread to see if people could help me find family to get the dog to, and I was guarding my little chickens to keep them back. Dont think I will sleep tonight but thats ok. I have a lot of praying to do!
