“Shakib free to play abroad”: BCB President Nazmul Hassan, MP In a brief meeting with members of the media at the VIP Lounge of Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport, Dhaka, BCB President Mr. Nazmul Hassan, MP made an official declaration regarding BCB’s decision to remove the ban on star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan’s participation in foreign domestic leagues. He said, “It was a sensitive decision for BCB to make, and after unanimous consent of all concerned from the authority, we have decided to revoke the ban on Shakib’s participation in foreign domestic league from today”. He talked about the background of the ban in the first place, which was given by the Board “not on the basis of (Shakib’s) performace, but based on accusations regarding his attitude towards fellow cricketers, management and the crowd”. BCB President mentioned about how the Board was glad to observe a drastic positive change in Shakib’s attitude and professional behavior in reacting to the ban and rectifying mistakes accordingly. “The change that we observed influenced us to make the decision, which would act as a definite positive for him, and also for the overall team spirit of the National side”, said a smiling Nazmul Hasssan. Regarding the recent disciplinary action taken by BCB on Shakib for breaching certain BCB Code of Conduct in a domestic match on 3rd December 2014, the BCB President said, “I have heard of the incident just now, but I can assure that the Board will remain strict and not allow any breach of conduct from the players, be it crowd favorites like Shakib, Mashrafe or Mushfiqur Rahim”. Shakib al Hasan might be set to play in the Big Bash, the premier domestic T20 tournament in Australia, which begins from the 18th of December 2014. The removal of the ban means he would have no restrictions playing the above-mentioned foreign domestic tournament. Mr. Nazmul Hassan, MP also gave his comments on the recent stir in the media regarding certain statements directed to BCB by Legends of Rupganj owner Mr. Lutfur Rahman Badal. He said, “We have provided our official protest against his objectionable comments through a media release. His falsified allegations regarding BCB’s biased nature against him is only demeaning the image of the Board, and the ill-mannered way that he directly targeted a few Board members including myself through his statements deserve the official protest. We will look into the matter and take necessary steps against such reproaching behavior very soon”. It is worth mentioning that Legends of Rupganj owner Mr. Lutfur Rahman Badal complained against BCB’s role to provide biased umpires to officiate the league matches that involve his team, which, according to him, was the cause of their recent defeats in the ongoing Walton Dhaka Premier League. On this note BCB President stated, “I’m not sure if his (Badal) comments are meant to purposefully insult the able BCB management, but any falsified act or comment would be taken care of and the deserving actions would be taken to make things right”.
