Sham lays foundation stone of HS at Mawa Brahmana, Akhnoor Says teaching fraternity potent tool in shaping Nations’ future AKHNOOR, AUGUST04- Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today laid foundation stone of additional accommodation in High School at Mawa Brahmana in Akhnoor Tehsil. The modern type additional classroom is being constructed by PWD (R&B) with an estimated cost of Rs. 12.50 lakh. Addressing a large gathering on the occasion, Mr. Sham said that teachers have greater responsibility towards the nation and they should discharge their duties with a missionary spirit. He emphasized the need for promoting moral ethics among the younger generation besides enabling them excel in academics. He said it is essential to keep pace with rest of the world to compete in different fields, but simultaneously the efforts should be made to touch social aspects to reform the society through moral education. Describing teacher’s community as main instrument responsible for shaping the future of Nation, the Minister stressed upon the need for further improving the standards of education at par with global parameters to keep pace with the changing scenario. He also lauded the role of the private sector in improving the quality of education in the state. The Minister said that ensuring peace and progress with thrust on creation of economic activities and job opportunities is the central idea of the government. ‘We are working in tandom to mitigate difficulties of people and strengthen stability in the State, he said adding that the impact of balance development unleashed in the State during last over then four years is amply visible on ground. The Minister said during the last over four years, scores of new schools have been opened besides upgradation of existing educational institutions to provide education facilities to the children at their door steps. He said that Akhnoor Constituency has witnessed massive development in all sectors because of effective planning under various schemes R&B, PHE, PDD, Health, Tourism and Education sectors in the area. Earlier, the people putforth various demands including upgradation of Mawa High School, provision of staff, allopathic dispensary, deep drilling tube-well, road upgradation, improvement in power supply, opening of J&K Bank branch and status of backward area to the hilly pocket. The Minister assured that all genuine demands would be addressed in a phased manner and announced 3 additional classrooms for Mawa Brahmana High School under CDF. He said that Rs .10 crore have been sanctioned under PMGSY for upgradation of roads in the area besides presently 162 dug wells and tube wells are operational in the Akhnoor Constituency. Later, the Minister visited Talne and Jamatian villages and took stock of people’s grievances.
