Sham lays foundation stone of flood protection work at Mawa Brahmana Nalhah ‘Govt. committed to inclusive development of state’ JAMMU, AUGUST 02:-Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma today laid foundation stone for protection work on both sides Mawa Brahmana Nalhah emberkments involving cost of Rs. 1065 lakh in Akhnoor. He directed the Chief Engineer I&FC to gear up men and machinery for completing the project within stipulated time frame. He said that the village/panchayat including Jagwan Mohalla, Mawa, Jamotian, Manani, Ghai, Kadwani, Kadewala Migrant Colony Gurah Jagir, Batla Nai Basti and Devipur have faced lot of hardships due to flash floods in Mawa Brahmana Nallah which caused damage to property and agriculture land. He asked I&FC deptt to personally monitored ongoing construction work of nallah. The Minister was speaking after laid foundation stone of protection work which be constructed an estimated cost of Rs. 1065 lakh under flood control Deptt. at Mawa Brahmana. Mr. Sham said that government is working for development of facilities in peripheral area. He said that government is committed to provide every basic amenity like drinking water, power supply, healthcare, education and irrigation facilities to the people . The minister said that during five and half year unprecedented development has been witnessed in the three regions of the state. He said that during this period, several projects pertaining in PHE, irrigation have been take in hand and completed. He directed the executive agencies to make optimum use of funds and complete the ongoing projects in time bound manner. He urged the people to personally monitor the development works being executed in their respective areas. Responding to the locals needs and demands the minister said that government is conscious of the difficulties of the people of backward areas and focused attention was being paid besides many developmental schemes and projects have been launched to meet their developmental needs. Mr. Sham sought cooperation and support from people in the effort of the government in this regard. Mr. Sham said that sarpanches and paches have to play a vital role for implementation of the schemes in rural and remote areas. He also urged upon them for monitoring of the development works being executed under various programmes for building concrete infrastructure in the area. He said that development of Akhnoor Tehsil in receiving priority attention in policy planning and various development projects like too bedded hospital, Mini secretariat, BSC- Nursing College, Ayurvedic College, Navodhya Vidhalaye, Jio Poto Gulab Singh Library and preservation of Akhnoor Fort and Ambaran are in full swing. He asked the concerned authorities to ensure timely and quality completion of development work. Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, H.C. Jerth, SE Hydraulic, Executive Engineer besides senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
