Shamanistic marking or painting of the face is traditionally used to scare of any negative spirit that wants to occupy the body while the shaman is in the eather. I somewhat use that aspect , it is also about my journey and recording that, in my choice of colour and design , every mark or choice of design has a deep and valuable meaning to me and is often led by spirit with me at the time. I do it in Trance and often dont register it till it is done and I come out ot the trance state. Numbers are significant in the form of multiple dots lines or designs. Location on the face also is significant. They are performed on the full or new moon. I will then sleep one full night in it to skywalk/astral. It shifts my energy considerably. I dont dance around in ecstasy. Often they bring up deep emotions and I cry while doing it , this is why I am not smiling or laughing, not yet anyway. That is still to come :)
