Shame In the World Press Freedom Index 2013 Turkey has fallen to - TopicsExpress

Shame In the World Press Freedom Index 2013 Turkey has fallen to the 154. place (from place 148 last year). Who wonders? In this moment in Turkey there are more journalists in jail than in Iran and China combined. Much more are under pressure by the government and the dictatorial rule of its PM. Let’s have a look at the list. There we find much countries we would consider as ”undeveloped” or ”Third-World-Countries” ranked higher than our beautiful Anatolia: We don’t talk about Finland, the Netherlands and Norway, which are on top, but for example about Andorra (5.), Jamaica (13.), Costa Rica (18.), Namibia (19.), Cap Verde (25.), Ghana (30.), Suriname (31.), Botswana (40.), Papua-New Guinea (41.), Trinidad and Tobago (44.), Burkina Faso (46), Samoa (48.), Haiti (49.), Comoros (51.), Sierra Leone (61.), Bhutan (82.), Kosovo (85.), East Timor (90.), İrak (150)(!), Myanmar (151.) or Gambia (152). North Korea and Syria are not far behind in the list.... You should study it yourself: en.rsf.org/press-freedom-index-2013,1054.html fr.rsf.org/IMG/pdf/tu_rkiye_basin_o_zgu_rlu_g_u_i_ndeksi.pdf (in Turkish) Does Turkey not mean to be a powerful and modern country? Then it should cherish its press.
