Shame is what makes us look away, so we avoid eye contact with strangers and friends. Shame is that feeling that haunts us, the sense that if someone really knew us, they would shake their heads in disgust and run away. Shame makes us feel, no, believe, that we do not measure up--not to the worlds standards, the churchs standards, or our own....Shame ways we are unworthy, broken, and beyond repair. Shame causes us to hide. From Captivating How are you hiding today? In your work? Your ministry? Behind sarcasm? Behind the latest fashion? Exercise? A hardened exterior? The world needs your vulnerability....the courage to be who you really are. The persona of perfection you portray only causes others to compare and negate themselves. Your vulnerability, conversely, invites others to feel at peace and experience acceptance that can only be found in the image of God. That, my friends, is TRULY beautiful. ~M
