Shame on our national media.. Hundreds of innocent people were killed in Gaza. Thousands of Palestinians were mutilated. tens of thousands of houses were completely destroyed by the rogue state Israel. But our national dailies pretended as if they were not informed. or Who cares if US is not Concerned. The under-coverage of fifty-day long brutal killings of Palestinians once again reminds us of our medias commitment to Israeli interests replicating the same shown by the governing party, The assessment of the destruction in Gaza by Shelter Cluster, chaired by the Norwegian Refugee Council with the participation of the UN Refugee Agency and the International Committee of the Red Cross, says it would take 20 years to repair the material damage caused by Israel’s 50 days of bombardment of Gaza. The reconstruction is to cost over $6 billion. No less than 17,000 housing units were completely destroyed in Gaza during the bombing. Gaza already has an alarming housing deficit, conservatively put at 75,000. But who cares. If such are the aspects of the modern civilized world, then why are “dark ages” used to refer to ancient times? Well said, Raed Omari. You may read him: The international communitys reaction to the Israeli war on Gaza has ignited suspicions over the validity of international law and international relations. These suspicions are in place as, if Israel’s killing of children and civilians in the coastal enclave do not amount to war crimes, then what is the purpose of the relevant international conventions? Additionally, if not favoritism, bias, partiality, double standards and indifference, then in what terms should the international communitys silence on the mass slaughter of Palestinians be described as? The best comment I heard on the war on Gaza and the poverty of international politics was in the form of exclamation raised by Queen Rania of Jordan. Citing principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Queen Rania said, either the declaration is not so universal, or the people of Gaza are not human beings, worthy of the same “universal” rights. This is the message the world is sending out today. english.alarabiya.net/en/views/news/middle-east/2014/08/03/Gaza-and-Flight-MH17-Just-how-modern-is-our-modern-world-.html
