Shame on the current crop of African Leaders;another year passes - TopicsExpress

Shame on the current crop of African Leaders;another year passes and no one is good enough to win the Mo Ibrahim award. Very busy trying to demonize the ICC, and unfortunately, taking some public opinion with them.Sure, the cases at the ICC are askew number-wise against Africa;but, where do most barbaric crimes against citizens emanate? In how many countries do Gvts shoot peaceful protesters, or engineer election violence so they can steal an election? The paradox is that these very same indignant African countries were happy enough when they referred rebels such as Foday Sanko, Joseph Kony, Thomas Lubanga, etc to the ICC. They were happy enough when the ICC solved the Charles Taylor question for Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Liberia. Which country in Africa, save for South Africa, Botswana and maybe Namibia, has the mechanisms to try former or current leaders and still remain stable? The ICC has short-comings, like the UN, AU,anything. To withdraw or play intransigence will only result in impunity;detriment being to citizens.
