Shammi Kapoor was a great boon to Hindi Films. I think he led the path to a liberation for young people. His antics in various films lent an energy to youth of the era. Prior to that, it appears that life was to be taken seriously, except if you were a comic like Johnny Walker and Mehmood. That you could be serious in your life quest and yet be merry was what Shammis roles gave us. Shammi was not just a role model for merriment, he also was a great romantic both on and off-screen. His off-screen romance with Geeta Bali locked away his advances to other actresses. I still remember some pictures of his family, particularly of his infant daughter, with rompers that stated No spanking please or something to that effect. He was devastated by the untimely death of Geeta.. From the year 1961, we have a terrific and very successful movie.. Junglee.. which also introduced Saira Banu. I had reasons to watch this movie a little closely. One song that took my spirit for a toss was Ehsaan tera hoga.. both by Lata and Rafi. Lata was required to strain her voice hard in the higher octaves, whereas Rafis were lower and gave soothing vs screaming to the song. Remembering Shammi, Rafi, SJ and the absolute King of Romance, Hasrat Jaipuri. and thanking them for paving the path to enjoying romantic number, in my pre-teens! https://youtube/watch?v=eHdsoUE-aZ8
