Shape your own destiny,Zambians told Political activist Dante Saunders says the onus remains with the Zambian people to shape their destiny as the country attains 50 years of independence. Mr. Saunders says people should not leave this obligation to the politicians as they have done in the last 50 years. He says politicians have proven that they are only interested in pushing for their selfish and personal agendas. Mr Saunders tells QFM News that in shaping the countrys destiny, the media and the civil society should therefore become more proactive than ever before in pushing for the enactment of a new people driven constitution. Mr Saunders says the new constitution should ensure that the countrys security wings are not controlled by one individual as is the current situation where the Head of State is the appointing authority of public officers in charge of security wings. The political activist further hopes that Zambias attainment of 50 years of independence from colonial rule should also end the intolerance among political parties. He says it is important that going forward, political parties co-exist as this is what it entails in political arena of a democratic country like Zambia. QFM.
