Shardlow St James 3 Matlock Town FC CFA 2 MRA CUP The CFA unbeaten run finally came to end in a cup game against Shardlow St James. Its always disappointing to lose especially when the opposition score in the last 2 minutes, nevertheless the CFA can hold their heads up high as this was an excellent performance against a team also unbeaten and playing in the division above. The CFA had to come back from a goal down early on, the move was started by Alex Lacy down the left for the impressive Michael Lettall to bury the ball in the back of the net. A set back just before the break saw the home side in front at the interval. Isaac Evans forced a penalty early in the second half and up stepped Stephan Brown to coolly place the ball past the shardlow keeper to level the score. The home side piled on the pressure looking for the late winner, Chris Draycott was in top form at centre half as was Dale McClean at left back, Sam Duffin between the sticks yet again produced an impressive repertoire of saves but with 2 minutes to go up stepped the big lads from the back for a in swinging corner and the victory was sealed with a headed goal. A lot of positives to be taken from the game well done to all the CFA players, everyone put in a great effort and a great game to evidence the massive progression of the young CFA side.
