Thanks to John Fenton, Jeremy Buckingham and many more who have advanced the cause of opposition to the rampant expansion of CSG and mining projects in Australia without any regard to the environmental damage on the record in the US and Queensland. Truth will prevail! Status Update By Jeremy Buckingham So after nearly 3 weeks in Australia John Fenton and his lovely family Catherine and Johnny are going home. It has been a remarkable tour across south eastern Australia and the regions on the front line in the battle against toxic unconventional gas. 11 major public meetings packed to the rafters, dozens of media engagements, amazing and inspirational articles, interviews and one on one conversations with thousands of concerned and passionate people. Thanks go out to Lock the Gate, The Wilderness Society, and the dozens of community groups and individuals that organised events, opened their homes, welcomed us with warmth and brought so much great energy. Through it all the respectfulness, integrity and calm honesty of Johns testimony shone through, compelling audiences in town, city and country. In my experience I have not met a more resolute and courageous man. A man and his family prepared to face off against the most powerful, corrupting and toxic industries on Earth, prepared to put their lives on the line in order to warn others of the dangers of greedy gas companies, prepared to fight for the fundamental human rights of clean water, food and proposition that we and our environment will not be collateral damage on the way to some rotten corporations bottom line. I hope Johns tour has been a game changer, uniting city and country, uniting black and white, new Australian and old, uniting communities across the globe in our resolve to stop the destruction of our communities, homes, farms, air and water. It has been an honour to share just a short time with John, but it is an experience and lesson in the power of honesty and reason that I will never, ever forget. I hope that others had the chance to meet and hear John, a farmer, an activist, a good bloke and a great man.
