Shared by a fan... Super pertinent! Dear Moderator plz get the word out. Answer to express tribune article For the West, Malala fits the image of Pakistan but Edhi does not and Hamza Ali Abbassi posts Sugar Coating Hatred: The Social Media and blogs are rampant with heated discussions on “Why Malala and Why not Edhi Sb.” Not at all a first from Malala she has always been compared by someone or the other by the nay Sayers be it the US IT certified, star pupil “Arfa” or the much older Phd. From US and a US immigrant “Afia”. The comparisons were never logical so why should they be now.. But what’s alarming this time is the crowd of Educated and seemingly moderate people joining the why her argument. The only conclusion seems to be that bigger the achievement the larger has been the hate quotient! Our sheer jealousy on how could she have escaped or risen above her circumstances unites us in the hate. While the true haters freely call Malala a “Puppet or Agent of the West”, the sugar coating prowess of the so called moderates ranges from claiming to “not hate”, “actually admire” and go as further as saying that “she deserved it Buttt…”. Their very next sentences though unmask the true colors of their hate by calling the Nobel committee “Bogus”, “politically influenced” and “let’s face it the deserving candidate does not win every time”… Edhi saab was actually nominated in 2011 but did not win and the social media was quiet and no one noticed. The nations hero’s suffered from a major organ mal-function in 2013 yet the nation hardly noticed but last Friday on Oct 10th Malala won the Noble and the nations focus was on its forgotten hero Edhi Sb. Nobody cared to question was he even nominated this year?? Don’t get me wrong as it was in no way a campaign for promoting Edhi Sbs Charity nor his personality but it was just for the sole purposes of belittling Malala Achievements and questioning the credibility of the unsuspecting Noble prize committee. Using a noble person as a tool for belittling those we don’t approve of. The differences in age, gender, line of work, high contrast in stories, International impact and recognizability, all fall short when the people are only asking “Who else could it have been given to “but Malala”??”; all the while quoting ‘we don’t hate her, and I think she might have deserved it”; and in a small span of time we become the authority on choosing Nobel winners the evil UN and US policies and the Godly US influence and power on everything and everyone! The hypocrisy is alarming this time because the people day dreaming of US Aid, Scholarships, Immigration, and top-dollar paying jobs in the west (especially the oil and Gas sector or the Banks), dressed in US inspired attire are joining the ranks of radicals by belittling, denying and undoing the achievement of the Youngest Noble Laureate. Edhi sb has a topi, while Malala always has a dupatta covering her head, she dresses always modestly in pure Pakistani Shalwar kameez just like the kurta pajama of Edhi Sb. My apologies to many but she can’t grow a “Darhi” nor that she should try because you are too unpatriotic to celebrate the nations historical achievement of International Magnitude.
