Shared from a Sister... Beware of the Hump I recently went though - TopicsExpress

Shared from a Sister... Beware of the Hump I recently went though a little transformation. I have been wearing hijab since I was 12 years old. It is a huge part of my life - I am more comfortable wearing my hijab than when I am without it. However, being the “fashionista” that I am, I kept feeling like the usual wrap-around-my- head scarf wasn’t cutting it for me any more. I started doing some research to find fun, modern, and modest ways to wrap my hijabs. There are SO many YouTube tutorials on how to wrap hijabs in SO many different ways. As I started practicing, I began to LOVE my hijab even more than before. Then, within days of my restyling, I came across a hadith - and it couldn’t have enlightened me at a better time: The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “There are two types of the people of Hell that I have never seen: people with whips like the tails of cattle, with which they strike people, and women who are dressed but appear naked, walking with an enticing gait, with their heads looking like the humps of camels leaning to one side. They will never enter Paradise, nor even smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be discerned from such and such a distance.” [Muslim] The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) mentions two types of people in this hadith whom he did not see in his time, yet foretold about, and who we see today. This is also one of his miracles, and proof of his divine messengership. These two types of people who are likely to enter Hell for their sins are: 1. People who strike others with whips that are like the tails of cattle. 2. Corrupt women who make a display of themselves and tempt men and do not obey Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). Nowadays there are many women who are dressed but appear naked, as the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) foretold. This hadith also warns us against adopting hair styles or Hijaab fashions in which the hair is piled on top of the head or the head scarf is layered and hair clips are used to create shapes that look like the humps of camels. (via Daily Hadith) OMG, indeed. Alhumdulillah I wasn’t into the multitude of folds that some of the tutorials were demonstrating, but could this new trend be what our Beloved Prophet (SAW) was warning us against? After reading this hadith, I try to be as cautious as possible… I ask my husband if I look like a camel. Because, lets be honest, I do not want my hijab - which is an act of piety - to end up being something that is bad and forbidden for me because of how I am wrapping it. So let this be a Public Service Announcement to all my beautiful Hijabi Sisters… All the folds, and volume, and straight-pins stabs in the head are for this world…the act of hijab and modesty is what is going to benefit us in the Here after.. #Alpha-54
