Survivor By Dan Hilts Once upon a lonely time The darkness came to visit, The fear it left was off the scale The invasion was unexpected Never knowing what to do The child was labeled as trouble The only way he could reach out Was loud, obnoxious and aggressive The darkness did everything it could, to discredit this poor lad To keep folks around him, from knowing why he was bad He tried to talk and be heard, but the labels were too large For many years he was lost, with no where that he could turn The anger grew and festered, and affected his tiny world Till the day he exploded, and prison was his reward They called him an animal, and many other things His self worth was almost gone, they washed it down the drain Years have come and years have gone, he grew into a man With a family of his own to raise, and to protect with his own hand The hatred that he carried, it came time he let it go He gave the darkness his forgiveness, and decided to move on When you have fear and hatred, and dont know what to do It can rip you apart from the inside out, if you let it stew You can become part of that darkness, and hate your fellow man Or use the gift God gave you, and go forward with a new plan.
