Sharing Michael J Cullen status on Boycott Zynga . . .just some - TopicsExpress

Sharing Michael J Cullen status on Boycott Zynga . . .just some food for thought that I agree with . . . Over the past two days, I have received hundreds of letters from Yovillians who are happy that Zynga has cancelled the closing of Yoville. Among those messages, there are also a few messages urging continued protests against Zynga. I want to make clear my reasons for believing the time for protest is over. I hope we can all agree that Zynga is a company that is very concerned with its own legal protection. They are not going to announce the game is remaining open and then pull the plug without notice. If they decide to close the game, they will face heavy criticism for being deceptive. Remember, the media and the gaming industry are watching this situation thanks to us. It would mean starting the whole ordeal over from the beginning. It is highly unlikely that this would be Zyngas plan. Every indication points to this being a decision to keep the game open. The fact that the announcement is cryptic should not surprise anyone who has ever dealt with contract negotiations. It is a closed door process, and nothing will be made public until both parties have signed off. The rallies, boycotts, petitions and every other form of protest were important to raising awareness and applying pressure to Zynga to resolve this situation in a customer-friendly manner. ALL of you deserve credit for your contributions. However, disregarding this notice and continuing to protest sends the wrong message. In the case of my petition, the message was Keep Yoville or Lose Us. If they announce they are keeping Yoville and we send the message that they are going to lose us no matter what they do, will that message really compel them to keep the game open? I dont think so. Zynga made a bad decision closing Yoville. This week, they acknowledged it and made a good decision. We should be affirming their decision by putting the protests on hold. No one is saying we wont start again if Zynga decides to close Yoville. Im just saying that as long as Zynga is saying the game will continue, yelling Save Yoville seems pointless and not demonstrating that we are good customers seems counterproductive. Just my two cents. Mike YBLA
