Sharing Moment: I went to visit the families of the murdered victims in the Har Nof synagogue.. I met with the most incredible souls, women, children... sons and daughters.. parents.... there were tears.. but there were also smiles... there was vulnerability but tremendous strength.. founded in unshakable faith... there was deep dedication and idealism to goodness... to G-d... to say it was moving does not do it justice.... At the Levines home, I spoke at length with Michal, their oldest daughter... She said her father did not hate anyone. and he would not want anyone to come out with anger. or hate from this tragic event. We should all look within and try to see what good can we bring into the world. what attribute or behaviour we can work on.. improve.... I was changed by this event. I have been changed by meeting these people. There was a clear feeling of being in the company of giants. great people of spirit and kindness.. and dedication and devotion... And I ask myself- how do I ensure to turn to G-d and not to anger? To believe it is all from Him... and that our answer is LOVE. not hate? It has been a very trying period for me (over the last few years..) On the one hand standing steadfast against Terrorism and anyone who condones or promotes it. Being disgusted and appalled by Murder! by Hatred from our well.. haters.... and seeing the anger and the revolt arising within me... and yet- looking in again to find the higher place.. that can transcend the physical reality. that can turn to the Source of all beings. With that same tenacity I stand against general hatred towards our arab neighbours. Those who do not seek to kill. Those who want to live in peace. And despite the disbelief.. and it is understandable...I continue walking this tightrope.. this balancing act of Condemnation of Evil, yet- a love and faith in mankind... and maintaining my Call for a truly Jewish response. One the emanates from deep connection to G-d and one that Illuminates the darkness. It is the darkest month of the year.. yet it is the month with the holiday of lights. May we each find the light within. and let that light comfort our pained souls. May we act from the purest place of connection. May we spread but good.
