Sharing a poem- in honor of all of my #ASLWalk compadres. Thank you for creating such a beautiful, safe space, which I continue to carry in my heart. Sometimes In this house Of ears I feel my soul Shriveling up And then I Close my eyes And there’s a pounding Beat Some kind of heat Warming my hands Square tables Confining walls And mouths moving Winding the suffocation Inside even tighter And then I Close my eyes And see silhouettes Dancing in shadows A burst of oxygen That even the night cannot contain Bodies tilted away Skin hungry for touch For the warmth of your Intimate space Your listening gaze And then I close my eyes And you are in front of me Glowing face Focusing intently And in your presence I am seen As the days pass The fire begins to bank And cold winds kick up In this house Of all that hears And never knows. -ala 2013
