Sharing another missionary story this time from Gracie Murphree, I think they have 23 people in their childrens home... So now that you have that picture... I have GOT to share what just happened.... Do you really KNOW who your God is? Do you really BELIEVE he can and will do what he says? That has been the theme of many devotions recently and was the theme of one of the three Bible lessons I did today. We have had no water or rain for ages. Today we were down to the last barrel, the last flushes, the last dishes. In the last week I had bathed Saturday and Tuesday. Now it was Sunday and I stunk, my hair was stiff. All day I kept thinking to call for the water truck, but something held me back. This evening the sky over the mountains across the street darkened. The wind began to stir. Now it has done this many times and nothing but a little spit has fallen. But today I was determined. I gathered my towel, shampoo, facecloth and body wash and walked in front of our conference center and stood under the pvc pipe on the roof and waited. The wind stirred, clouds moved a few drops began to fall. Then the air stopped. I looked up at the sky and said father God you said in your word you will give us everything we need. We need rain. I need a shower, my neighbors need water, crops are dying. We need rain. We NEED an AGUACERO (rainstorm) a big one. I am going to stand here and wait. My toddlers boys at the gate started shouting at the sky PAPI DIOS AGUA! (Father God water!). A drizzle started, nothing came out of the roof gutter. The boys continued and I continued telling our father God what we needed. WATER. a little trickle began to fall from the pvc pipe and I held my facecloth under it letting the tiny drizzle wet it. I said, I am in faith for water and started bathing just with a damp wash cloth (I had on shorts and tank and flip flops - you learn to bathe with clothes on when necessary in the third world). It started to flow a little more and I continued wetting the cloth, putting body wash on it and washing and rinsing. AFter about five minutes I had done the legs and arms and face and neck and torso but there wasnt enough dribble to get the soap off. I looked up and said Father God you promised to supply our needs, I believe it, Im in faith, Im covered in soap now do your part! hahahaha and the sky opened up and we got our aguacero!!!! It rained so hard, by the time I finished washing my hair and rinsing it under the falling water from the pvc pipe, the barrels were all full of water and it was still coming down. Yeni and Ambar and Milagros and Michell and I were running from one barrel to another pulling buckets out to dump into the pilas. And it continued to pour like crazy for another 20 minutes, the yard flooded. Then it began to slow.... and we were all soaked from head to toe, CLEAN! All the barrels are filled and the pilas are half filled. SO, my question to you is this.... do you really BELIEVE He will do what he says in his word? I do. My God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory That includes water....... and isnt it something that sometimes we just have to step out in faith and stand on that WORD all soaped up and ready for the rain to fall?
