Sharing from Dr. Vivek Gharpures wall along with his comments. I can agree with all generalized allegations of malpractice that is thrown on us, but this is one thing no one can deny. firemen, train drivers, surgeons, airline pilots, ships officers; emergency medical technicians ; are a group of people called upon to take life and death decisions, under stress, when situation is not of your making, there is no time to ponder, no time to call another expert or wait till next morning. other professionals are rarely called upon to face such situations. consider a lawyer, does he have to decide at two am in the morning, without referring to a law book, what case law to apply; to save the life of a murder suspect? does a structural engineer calculate loads and stresses while a building is being constructed, people are waiting to pour concrete? every fool is wise after the event. judging someone is easy. let a trial judge be made to try a murder case in 15 minutes. and sentence be carried out immediately. let him know that a superior judge is going to examine his judgment at leisure, and punish him if found wanting. just once. Extending his observation even to non-emergency situations, as the same unpredictability of the human body exists in both.
