Its an average weeknight for an average family in an average city, except the teenager has just come home distraught. She had picked up a book at the library and after reading it, wonders if everything she believes about life is wrong after all. Her mother, concerned, asks for the book and begins flipping. She is shocked. Lying, murder, rape, incest and slavery, just in the first section alone. Her mother writes in to the library, and tells her friends about the book so that they too can write in. They argue that the book contains themes inappropriate for young minds; some content appears to contradict with modern science; the main character promotes exclusivist claims to salvation; the book is at odds with the social cohesion so prized by the community. After some days, the library announces it has withdrawn all copies of the Bible from circulation. via Dawn Yip
