**** Sharing from a site I frequently read**** Went to my bank the other day to purchase a small money order. About $135. Paid cash instead of drawing from my account and was asked to answer a bunch of questions. Such as...what is my profession, purpose of the M.O. SSN, and so forth.I objected to this infringement on my privacy and was shown by the manager, nice guy by the way, the new federal regulations requiring this information. The bank is required to save all of this info on any M.O. Purchase just in case the Feds decide they need it later, like during an investigation of you for whatever. I changed my mind about the purchase and went instead to our local 7-11 and they did not inquire at all. The helpful manager also pointed out that soon (next year I believe) the Feds would announcing the requirement to exchange old currency for new. Particularly 50 and 100 dollar bills and higher denominations. Incentive for us all to do this will be a date by which all old issue bills will become waste paper. The obvious reason would seem to be the need to know who is stashing cash and how much. Ah the home of the free.
