Sharing happy thoughts: When I was 17 and nursing my new daughter - TopicsExpress

Sharing happy thoughts: When I was 17 and nursing my new daughter (baby #2) in public, uncovered, eating a snack myself in the hot Australian summer at like 40*C, I was told by a slob of an old man who just so happened to be very overweight, that wat I was doing was disgusting and he didnt want to see that. I then started to tear up. No sooner had I wiped away one tear, and a lovely little elderly lady came over and handed me a drink and a mud cake - plus an extra slice for now (she said to keep up my milk), and told me to keep nursing that beautiful baby, and its lovely to see mother and daughter eating together. Ive never forgotten that, and I never will. Almost 12 years on, my youngest and last child has weaned, but I will forever cherish the nursing days. It didnt only nourish them, it nourished *US*. The mother-child bond. If you tell someone to cover because you are afraid of what you are seeing or are afraid to explain it to your kids, take a good look at yourself. If you stand by and watch and say nothing when a mum is being trodden on for nursing, you are letting them do it. Stand up for nursing. Stand up for the babies!! Because in 60 years, you will need the to stand up for YOU! ~*~ Serene
