Sharing is rewarding in true sense.... When I was a child, I used to see that my father always distribute what he was having...even when he was having one piece of roti or bread....he used to make more pieces out of that and used to share few with us..This was his routine and he always felt happy in doing such things....never in is life he believed in hoarding or accumulating wealth and when he retired after putting in long years of his Govt.service, he was not having any fixed income source other than pension...even his PF contribution was meagre as he never contributed more than what was compulsorily deducted by the employer as per rule....no house constructed....no land purchased....no fixed deposits.....only one Savings Bank account was there in which salary was being credited....he is continuing with that and moved to our ancestral house in village and is living his life as usual....by distributing whatever he has....the most happiest person that I have seen in my life....no feeling of depriviation....no jealousy....no ill will towards anyone....spending his time in reading, writing, and guiding peope whoever comes to him.... I remember when I was a small kid and sometimes resent his sharing act, he used to narrate us one story of King Vikramaditya....that story is still a guiding factor for me and a source of insipiration....this story enabled me to learn the importance of sharing and I am sharing this story with my kids, loved ones, friends, colleagues etc....I think that this forum is also a great platform where My sharing of this story may be fruitful as the audeience is quite enlightened... here goes the story..... Once upon a time there was a very famous King named Vikramaditya...One day he was just strolling with his navratnas and discussing on some issues, when suddenly a question came to hs mind that how he has become King Vikramaditya?he was not getting any answer so he asked his Ministers....all came out with their explanations and responses which were not satisfactory and accepatable to the King....after failing to get satisfactory answer, King issued a notification that whoever satisfies him with answer to his question, he shall part away 50% of his RAJYA(kingdom) and give that to him/ her. Many came forward from all over the kingdom, but could not satisfy the King with their answer. The notification subsequently reached a village , where a Lady after reading it or hearing the news suggested to her in laws that she could solve this mystry and provide answer to the question raised by the King. The poor farmer warned his daughter in law about the consequences that might be faced by the family in case the answer fail to get acceptance by the KING.... However, on insistense from the Lady, the in laws brought her tothe Kings Court and she was allowed to put forth her answer. When VIKRAMADITYA asked his question, the lady simply said that the answer to this question is not with her but she could provide a clue.On seeking clue by King, she said that go the forest , 18 KOSE ( 36 MILES ) away from this place and you will find a SAGE eating ANGARA( FIRE BALLS)..he would provide you answer..The king started his journey and reached the destination as suggested by the Lady.He found that SAGE and saw him eating Fire Balls as told by the lady. His confidence in Lady grew imediately. The Sage , on seeing the King started laughing .He asked O King, I know you would come to seek answer to your question....but I am not in a position to answer as I am eating this Fire ball and I dont have time to explain to you the whole story...Please go deeper to the forest, away from this place towards south approximately 16 Miles and you will find another sage eating his own intestine....he would be able to provide you the answer. The King Moved ahead as suggested. After reaching the destination, the King Vikramaditya found the Sage who was eating his own intestine. He after seeing the King started laughing loudly and said that O King of King, you have come to seek answer to your query but as you observe, I do not have the tine to answer you in detail as I am busy in eating my own intestine ....you better seekit from a child who will take birth after a week in the Kingdom at Kings place and he hall remain alive only for few minutes...you have to seek answer from him.I am sure he will satisfy you. The king moved to the kingdom as directed by the sage in quest of his answer...After 3 days of tortuous journey through hills and forests and rivers , The King reached the Kingdom named by The Sage.He met the King And explained his position. The king who got very furious on knowing the purpose of King Vikramidyas Visit , later on accepted the propsition after knowing that he is approached by King Vikramaditya the greatest King of BHARAT and whose Friendship can buy him peace and solace nd is essential for his kingdoms existence... On the D day a boy was born and the King Vikramaditya was taken near the Labor Room and allowed to sit outside the partition....immediately after the birth, the child started laughing and said , O King,I know why you have come here...Yes I will answer to your query and to the fullest datisfaction....Listen Carefully, as I have little time before I die.... Once upon a time there was a kingdom where complete drought has taken large number of toll. people were dying of starvation as no food was available anywhere...We were 4 Brothers and 1 Sister..we somehow the other mqnqged to get some amount of wheat Flour and cook 5 chapatis which were equally distributed among all 5 of us....One Chapati each...when we were abouto take our first bite, suddenly one old and hungry person came to us and went straightway to the eldest brother and asked for Chapati( Bread) to eat as he was hungry for months. Our Brother regused saying that he himself is having fire in his belly and if e parts away with his share , he would have no option but to eat FIRE...you have met our eldest brother, the sage who is still eating fire in the forest...On being refused, the poor old hungry person approahed our second brother. He also refused to oblige saying that he was also hungry to the extent that his intestines are getting twisted and if he had to give his share, he would be eating his twisted intestines to satisfy his hunger...The sage who is eating his Intestine whom you met at orest was our 2 nd brother.... It was my turn and the hungry beggar approached me for the Chapati which was in my hand. I was not eager to share as for o many days I was hungry and the possession of Chapati was just lie a life boosting dose for a person who was dying our of hunger. So I refused and finally replied in negative when the beggar approached me... I regused and said that I was dying of hunger before I ot this Chapati and if I part away with this only piece, I would die again...so here i am taking birth and dying after few minutes in every life. You , my brother was observing everything and being he youngest of all brothers, were quite kind hearted too...You gave entire Chapati to that beggar and became KING VIKRAMADITYA. ...and our sister who after seeing that you gave your entire share to the beggar , gave you half of her chapati , is now going to get our half Kingdom whih you have promised to give to the person who could satisfy your query...Yes Vikramaditya, the lady who sent you to the first Sage was our sister in earlier life...King Vikramidya , after getting satisgied, returned to his kingdom and shared half of his with his sister. This is a moral story. I do not know whether this is based on facts or fiction but I have considered it as really worth copying.I am telling this story time and again to my kids, my subordinates and who ever wants to listen. I always believe that sharing is real caring ...sharing is immensely rewarding .... - Vijuy Ronjan
